Overview

Charleston Southern University was founded in 1964 and is located in North Charleston, South Carolina. It covers an area of 300 acres and is the only private Christian comprehensive university in the region. Its mission is to "pursue academic excellence in a Christian environment". The college has multiple colleges including business, education, science, humanities, and nursing, offering more than 50 undergraduate and more than 20 graduate and online courses. It has about 3,800 students, with a diverse ethnicity and a student-teacher ratio of 12:1. The school's sports team "Buccaneers" participates in the NCAA BigSouth Conference, has 16 school teams, and the campus atmosphere is close-knit and faith-based.
