Florida State College at Jacksonville Online offers flexible learning options that allow students to pursue their educational goals within their busy schedules. The college offers fully online degree and certificate programs, or students can choose to take only a portion of their program online. Online programs are offered through a Learning Management System (LMS) that supports the building and delivery of instructional content, facilitates course interaction, provides course activities and assessments, and monitors learning progress. Students may choose traditional distance online (asynchronous) courses or “live online” (synchronous) courses, which require students to attend classes collectively on designated days and times through an LMS such as Canvas. In addition, the College provides online students with a variety of resources and tools to support student success in the online learning environment, including assessments, professional development, equipment loans, library guides, online tutoring, and more. Online students can complete specific courses or enroll in a full degree program, and they are required to devote time to learning the material, completing exercises, and submitting assignments during set course hours as well as on their own time. Online programs require minimal or no on-site attendance at course activities, and students will have access to the same student support and academic resources as traditional face-to-face instruction or hybrid programs.
