Overview

Johnston Community College (JCC) was founded in 1969 and is located in Smithfield, North Carolina, about 30 miles from Raleigh. It is the 13th largest institution in the North Carolina community college system. The main campus covers an area of 175 acres, including 11 teaching buildings, an auditorium with more than 1,000 seats, a 16-acre botanical garden and several lakes. JCC offers about 40 associate degree, certificate and diploma programs, covering university transfer, vocational training and continuing education. It has branches in Clayton and Cleveland, and owns the 2,800-acre Howell Woods Environmental Education Center. It serves about 13,000 students each year and has a faculty of about 600 people. It aims to provide high-quality, flexible and affordable education for regional citizens, industries and community development.
