Overview

The University of Akron, UA for short, is located in Akron, Ohio, USA. It was founded in 1870 and was originally named Buchtel College. As a public research university, UA now offers more than 200 undergraduate majors and more than 100 graduate programs, covering engineering, business, health sciences, law and other fields. The school enjoys a world-leading position in polymer science and plastic engineering. UA's campus is located in downtown Akron, covers an area of 218 acres and has more than 80 buildings. The school focuses on practical teaching, and all engineering students have the opportunity to participate in internships or cooperative education programs. In addition, UA also offers a rich campus life, including more than 300 student organizations and NCAA Division I sports programs.
